We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, positive, and friendly person to join the team as a Transport Operations Manager at our Doncaster site.

The Role

Directing an already established team consisting of UK Route Planners, EU Route Planners, Transport Administrators, Transport Supervisor, Compliance Manager, Workshop Supervisor and a Driver Trainer, you will be responsible for all commercial activity and the ambitious growth of transport revenues and profits.

Reporting into our Head of Logistics, you will lead the Transport department on site. You will deliver a safe, legally compliant and cost-efficient transport operation within a distribution centre environment.

You will be responsible for all transport systems and processes, identifying and developing new systems and processes to meet the needs of the business.

You will ensure the best possible service is provided to your clients by working closely with our warehouse department.

You will be accountable for ensuring that our vehicle planning meets the needs of our client. By the most efficient and cost-effective routes to delivery.

This includes the management of a 7-day transport operation throughout the UK and Europe.

Holding the overall accountability for our Operators License and our FORS accreditation within the transport operation.

Dealing with issues and enquiries and ensuring on- going legal compliance.

The H&S standards within the Transport Department.

Transport legislation compliance ensuring legal compliance for fleet and drivers. Driving cost efficiencies by working with our driver trainer and transport compliance manager to minimise accident damage, identifying cost saving initiatives and ensuring adherence to fleet maintenance requirements.

An operational responsibility for a mixed fleet of 50+ vehicles and 50+ trailers.

Full responsibility for ensuring return loads are secured, to minimise empty return leg running in both the UK and EU

Ensuring plans are in place to meet our clients volumes by utilisation and selection of the correct vehicle to meet their deliveries.

Conduct local negotiations with suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure SLAs are met and negotiate competitive rates with sub-contractor partners where applicable.

Provide management information to provide evidence of achievements, efficiencies and progress against project plans.

Preparing a monthly pack for Head of Logistics working closely with Finance to ensure costs are managed effectively and are accurate and reflective of operational costs.

Liaise and build effective working relationships with other Department Managers at the distribution centre, Sales Executives, purchasing department and other key stakeholders. Understanding their requirements and managing our ability to provide the best and most cost-effective service to our clients.

Requirements

Experience/Qualifications: CPC National / International Qualification

Full current driving licence

Project Management Experience

Extensive knowledge of transport processes and practices

Previous Operational Transport Management experience gained within a similar environment

Transport management systems and vehicle telemetry
