Service Engineer
Location - Doncaster
Purpose of Role : To install and maintain full and safe operational functionality and presentation of a range of Water Treatment units and accessories. Checking, cleaning, servicing, maintenance, and record-keeping to be consistently carried out to the standards set down by the Company in accordance with the published Workshop Procedures and with Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental standards. The objective is to maximise equipment safety, reliability, availability, and presentation. Also, to carry out repairs within scope of training and competence.

AREAS OF ACTIVITY
Installation, Inspection, Testing and Servicing.
- Segregate equipment awaiting installation, inspection, testing or repair in so far as is practical, or otherwise identify the status of such equipment by means of clear labelling, so that its process status is distinguishable from equipment ready for hire.
- Clean, check, test and service all hire equipment on commissioning and after each hire, in accordance with the Company's workshop procedures.
- (Mobile engineers) Carry out routine preventative maintenance on site at the prescribed intervals.
- Complete PDI tags and workshop records in accordance with Company procedures
- Store plant ready for hire in a safe and secure location and in a clean and presentable condition, ensuring that any Company logos, plant numbers, instruction, and warning labels and PDI tags are legible.
- Ensure that any waste oils and other controlled materials are correctly processed and disposed of in line with the Company's Environmental Policy.
- Account for any service parts and consumable items used.
- Maintain awareness of any stock shortages and set priorities daily.
- Support the Depot Manager in achieving 95% availability target
Breakdowns and Repairs
- Deal with equipment breakdowns promptly and appropriately, assisting with customer liaison as required to make an initial diagnosis. Attend customer sites to affect minor repairs where practical or to advise on exchange of plant, ensuring that the customer is kept informed throughout.
- Provide out-of-hours call-out on a rota basis.
- Ensure that equipment in repair status is segregated and identified and that spares and repair costs and the viability of economic repair are promptly assessed.
- Ensure that chargeable repairs are notified to the Depot Manager without delay.
- Make recommendations for disposal of plant which is uneconomic to repair.
- Ensure that parts requirements are accurately identified and raise spares requisition orders, using part numbers whenever possible.
- Monitor the progress of equipment under repair and take action to speed up or compensate for any delay factors.
- Ensure that all necessary documentation is completed to account for replacement parts and labour used, and to record the nature of repair work carried out.
- Maintain economic stockholdings of popular spares, accessories and workshop consumables and control these by carrying out stock-checks.
Safety, Quality and Environment
- Maintain awareness of relevant Health and Safety regulations and risks and make sure that all necessary risk control measures are observed, including manual and mechanical handling, personal protective equipment, hygiene measures, electrical safety measures and control of hazardous substances and fuels.
- Report on accidents, incidents and 'near misses'
- Comply with all Environmental and Quality procedures and directives and take action to ensure that non-conformances are corrected.
Customer Service Standards
- Maintain high standards of service commitment to both external and internal customers
- Communicate clearly with customers in a professional, polite, and helpful manner, by telephone and in person.
- Respond positively to all customer enquiries, quotations, and orders.
Assets, Equipment and Premises
- Ensure that workshop premises are maintained in a clean and tidy state, walkways and forklift routes are clear and that any slip or trip hazards are removed.
- Ensure that any spillage of oil, fuel or other hazardous material is cleared up and disposed in accordance with legislation environmental policy.
- Ensure that service vehicles and associated equipment are maintained in a safe, serviceable, tidy, and presentable condition.
Skills, Experience and Knowledge .
Essential:
- General skills and experience in mechanical or electrical disciplines which are relevant to the scope of equipment types involved in the role - plant hire equipment
- For servicing and maintenance roles, (whether field service or depot based) skills must be adequate to reliably perform or quickly develop reliable performance of competent maintenance routines.
- For workshop repair roles skills must be in depth, sufficient for competent fault diagnosis, dismantling, repair and testing of the defined equipment type.
- Holds a full driving licence valid in the UK
Desirable:
- Holds C and G, NVQ or other recognised professional or vocational qualifications in the relevant technical discipline.
- Has in-depth experience of a multiple technical disciplines, e.g. both mechanical and electrical
