Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to promote independence and reduce risks for adults with disabilities. This role involves working within the social model of disability, using evidence-based practices for person-centred assessments, and providing clinical advice to Assessment Officers and peer support to colleagues.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Conduct needs-led assessments of occupational performance for clients with a wide range of medical conditions and physical disabilities.
  • Develop individual goal-oriented action plans considering physiological, psychological, and environmental factors.
  • Provide expert clinical knowledge on manual handling issues and support colleagues with complex cases.
  • Manage a complex caseload and use a robust performance management framework to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Work autonomously to manage own clinical caseload and provide clinical advice to other Occupational Therapists and Assessment Officers.
  • Promote the use of assisted technology, including Telecare, to encourage independence.
  • Undertake assessments and documentation associated with Blue Badge applications.
  • Work in partnership with St. Leger Homes Doncaster around the management of the accessible housing register.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • DipCOT/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Experience in social or health care settings, particularly relating to services for disabled adults or children.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including report writing and maintaining clinical records.
  • Proficiency in technology systems such as Mosaic or similar record-keeping systems.
  • Knowledge of health and social services provision for disabled adults or children, including awareness of legislation and current political issues affecting service provision.
