Our client is a dynamic, family-run main contractor currently experiencing a period of growth. They specialize in the fit-out and refurbishment of projects across the bar & leisure and healthcare sectors. With in-house M&E, joinery, and decorating teams, they focus on delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions. This is a great opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join a growing team and contribute to a variety of exciting projects.

Job Overview:

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing the cost control and financial aspects of multiple projects simultaneously, with a focus on projects up to £3.5 million in value. The role involves working closely with the Head of Quantity Surveyors and assisting with the mentorship of two degree apprentice QSs. This is a site-based role where you will be expected to visit sites once a week, with the Project Managers being on-site every day.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and control the financial aspects of multiple construction projects, ensuring cost efficiency and profitability.

Provide accurate cost estimates, value engineering solutions, and monitor project budgets.

Review contracts and manage tendering processes for both projects and sub-contractors.

Assist in the preparation and submission of final accounts, including analysis and cost reporting.

Collaborate closely with Project Managers to ensure that project deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

Mentor and guide two degree apprentice Quantity Surveyors, helping them develop their skills and understanding of the industry.

Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and suppliers.

Manage site visits (once a week), ensuring accurate reporting and resolving any potential issues.

Work on fit-out and refurbishment projects in the bar & leisure and healthcare sectors.

Ideal Candidate:

Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor or subcontractor environment (excluding residential).

Experience with projects in the bar & leisure and healthcare sectors is desirable but not essential.

Strong knowledge of cost control, tendering, and contract management.

Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver within tight deadlines.

Previous experience mentoring or managing junior staff is advantageous.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficient in relevant software (e.g., Excel, Project Management Tools).

Based in or able to commute to Doncaster, Chesterfield, Sheffield, or Rotherham.
