This role is fixed-term until 31st March 2025, working full-time (37 hours per week).

Working across 2 sites in Dorset this role will play a part in creating innovative approaches to equip prison leavers with the necessary skills to obtain and sustain jobs for the future.

The successful candidate, will work with those in custody to provide support, motivation, and guidance in one-to-one and small group settings as they move towards release and a guaranteed interview on completion of the course. Through the gate this support will continue with progression coaches and tutors in the four geographical areas below to ensure progressions into work and/or further training.

Day to day duties

  • Providing high-quality, innovative teaching, learning and assessment, across two prison sites with a range of Employment Services courses.
  • Be responsible for ensuring high-levels of retention, achievement and success.
  • Contributing to the development and continual improvement of courses, co-ordinating effectively with both staff and students.
  • Being proactive in marketing / liaising with local schools, sector representatives, and employers with the objective of developing and enhancing programmes of study, ensuring targeted levels of recruitment, establishing strong partnership links, and raising the profile of the division.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Professional experience in the required occupational area of Leadership and Management and a relevant qualification.
  • Knowledge and experience of current teaching and learning strategies.
  • All candidates for teaching posts must possess a recognised Teaching Qualification, or be prepared to gain this Qualification within the first two years of service, with the assistance of the College.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
