Salary: Up to 50k

I am actively recruiting for an experienced Civil Engineer on behalf of a well-established Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy based in Dorset. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking team, working on a variety of projects across the South of England in sectors such as residential, commercial, drainage, and highways.

In this role, you will be working within the Civils team on a diverse range of drainage and infrastructure projects. You will collaborate closely with the Structures team to deliver solutions for both small-scale and large-scale schemes. You will bring a strong technical knowledge of Civil and Drainage Engineering, along with an understanding of Highways Design.

This is a hands-on role requiring proficiency in MicroDrainage software, with some knowledge of other relevant civils software also beneficial.

Key Responsibilities for this Civil Engineering role:

  • Designing foul and surface water drainage systems, incorporating Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) to a detailed design standard.
  • Preparing Flood Risk Assessments for sites in Flood Zones 1, 2, and 3.
  • Undertaking conceptual and detailed design of flood alleviation works.
  • Managing and preparing adoption drawings for schemes under section 38/278 and section 104 submissions.
  • Preparing water chapters for Environmental Statements.
  • Project management of drainage and infrastructure schemes.
  • Developing drainage strategies suitable for planning applications and s104 submissions.
  • Keeping up-to-date with current policy and design guidance such as NPPF, PPG, FWMA 2010, WIA 1991, LDA 1991, SuDS Manual, Sewers for Adoption, etc.
  • Collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team, with strong written and spoken communication skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent commercial experience).
  • Ideally, you will be working towards CEng (MICE, CIWEM) status or have equivalent commercial experience.
  • Proven experience in preparing and designing foul and surface water drainage strategies, including the use of Microdrainage.
  • Experience working in private sector consultancy, particularly on residential and commercial projects.
  • A solid understanding of highways design is a plus.
  • Experience in preparing Flood Risk Assessments and flood alleviation schemes.
  • Strong understanding of relevant civils software and the ability to produce high-quality technical documentation.
