Key Responsibilities of the SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Supporting students with special educational needs in the classroom, ensuring they can fully access the curriculum.
- Working closely with teachers to adapt lesson materials to meet individual student needs.
- Providing one-to-one or small group support to students, helping them achieve their academic and personal goals.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
- Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe and supported.
- Monitoring and recording student progress, offering feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
- Encouraging the social and emotional development of students, building their confidence and resilience.
Requirements for the SEND Teaching Assistant Role:
- Previous experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role is highly desirable.
- A genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students.
- A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special needs support is advantageous.
- A proactive and enthusiastic approach to supporting students’ learning and well-being.
