Our client, a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Dover, is seeking a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs. About the Role:
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a specific pupil to provide tailored support, ensuring they can access the curriculum and thrive within the school environment. You will play a key role in fostering the child’s academic, social, and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs
  • Assist in implementing the pupil’s Individual Education Plan (IEP)
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress
  • Support the pupil in managing their emotions and behaviour, using positive strategies
  • Adapt teaching resources to meet the child’s individual needs

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with primary-aged children, particularly in a 1:1 or SEN support capacity
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong relationships with children
  • A good understanding of additional needs, such as autism, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties (desired but not essential)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS clearance on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
