An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to take full ownership of the finance function within a well-established manufacturing SME based near Droitwich in Worcestershire. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for an experienced, commercially minded finance professional who thrives in both strategic and operational responsibilities.
The Role:
As Financial Controller, you will oversee all financial operations, ensuring robust controls, accurate reporting, and compliance while supporting wider business functions. You will lead a small finance team, and have oversight of Purchasing, IT, and Logistics, working alongside experienced, self-managing individuals.
This role requires a proactive leader who can balance strategic financial planning with hands-on operational finance. You will also play a key role in supporting the Senior Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full responsibility for the finance function, covering:
- Audit, Payroll, Pensions, VAT, Sales & Purchase Ledger
- Costing, Banking, Annual Returns, Insurance, Stocktaking
- Budgeting, Forecasting, and Head Office Reporting
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and internal controls.
- Lead and develop the finance team, providing clear direction and support.
- Support business-wide functions, including operational and commercial decision-making.
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team
- Adopt a hands-on approach, stepping in as needed to maintain efficiency.
We are looking for a qualified or qualified by experience Financial Controller with:
- Manufacturing experience (essential)
- SME background (preferred)
- A mix of strategic leadership and hands-on financial management
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to influence decision-making
- The ability to lead, direct, and support cross-functional teams
