Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are searching for a Transport Administrator to join our world-leading Chesterfield based Industrial client in their Transport department.

Job role responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all administrative requirements for the transport department
  • Ensure timely despatch of outbound vehicles and track their journeys
  • Identify and monitor trends/issues to improve delivery
  • Contribute ideas to improve the customer service experience, and improve the internal working environment
  • Support the planning of delivery routes, looking for improvements wherever possible
  • Ensure the operation remains legally compliant through monitoring weight limits, driver hours and tachographs
  • Respond swiftly to breakdowns and vehicle defect reports
  • Monitor and improve the safety standard of all transport duties
  • Be able to liaise with all relevant departments and personnel to facilitate the smooth and prompt delivery of required material

Requirements of the role:

  • Candidates who have longevity in work history
  • General understanding of transport legislation and logistical operations
  • Experience in working in a customer focused, time sensitive environment with daily fluctuating workloads
  • Ability to react quickly to information, solving changes to delivery routes
  • Proficient in computer skills – in house transport management experience is advantageous

 Hours and pay:

  • Hours between 9am-9pm Monday – Friday (8 hour days within these hours)
  • Pay between £11.50ph and £12.50ph dependent on experience
