As a CAD Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing of cable containment

products to meet industry and customer requirements. You will use 3D CAD software to

create detailed models and drawings ensuring designs are optimised for manufacture. You

will be required to lead design projects that include the redevelopment of existing and

creation of new product ranges. Additional responsibilities include, creating technical

specifications, troubleshooting production issues, liaising with customers and collaborating

with various departments across the business.

Duties:

  • Design and develop bespoke sheet metal components/ assemblies to meet

customers' requirements.

  • Communicate with the sales team and customers to create design concepts with

drawings for customer approval.

  • Generate flat patterns for CADCAM engineers while ensuring designs are suitable for

tooling and machinery.

  • Create detailed production drawings to be used for punch, fold and assembly

operations.

  • Reverse engineer historical 2D files into 3D format to improve level of technical

detail.

  • Lead design projects, including the creation of new products and the redesign of

existing ranges.

  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure design projects are on schedule to

meet both technical and financial targets.

  • Work closely with production team during design projects to ensure suitability for

manufacture, making adjustments where needed.

  • Actively seek ways to improve existing designs for efficiency, better performance and

ease of manufacturing.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to design and manufacturing

processes.

Requirements For the Role:

  • Experience With 3D Modelling Software (Solidworks Preferred)
  • Understanding of Design Tables and DFM Techniques
  • Experience in A Sheet Metal Manufacturing Environment
  • Excellent Attention to Detail and Organisation Skills
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Bill Of Materials Understanding
  • The Ability to Work Independently and As Part of a Team
  • Competent Excel Skills
