This role is crucial for maintaining and developing External Sales teams within the South Division, aiming to grow turnover and profit for the business through strong leadership and motivational skills.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Develop and motivate External Sales teams through regular field visits, meetings, and performance appraisals.
  • Enhance high-level sales and account management skills within the company.
  • Gain a concise understanding of the marketplace and customers’ businesses and requirements.
  • Maintain the highest possible levels of customer care, offering a 'best in class' service via your Sales teams.
  • Develop the Sales Team to achieve annual sales and margin targets, empowering them to make decisions within set parameters.
  • Monitor margins in line with guidelines and implement an annual sales budget and rolling sales forecast.
  • Assist in creating and implementing strategies for winning business opportunities based on existing and future strengths.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key contacts within both direct and indirect channels to enhance revenue streams.
  • Manage specified key and local accounts in the region.
  • Drive the Sales Team to achieve all targets and ensure the team is well-trained and prepared.
  • Update and approve new customer details and annually review the customer database to ensure quality.
  • Develop and implement agreed KPIs for the sales team.
  • Ensure that the sales team records and reports on their functions/activities.
  • Spend a minimum of 1 day per week in the field with the Sales Team.
  • Maintain and improve procedures within the Sales Departments to ensure compliance with customers' requirements.
  • Act as an ambassador for the company, promoting its services.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong background in people management and leadership.
  • Extensive sales experience, preferably in bakery, food service, or manufacturing operations.
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent team leading, networking, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.
  • Results-oriented with a positive outlook and exceptional communication skills.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
