Senior Committee Services Manager (Scrutiny/Democratic Services) – Full Time – Hybrid Working – £33 per hour umbrella– South of England
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Locum Democratic Services officer to join a reputable Public Sector Organisation in the South of England.
Key Details:
- Duration: Initial 3 months with the possibility of extension
- Hybrid Working: 1 day per week required in the office
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in Democratic and Committee Services, including working knowledge of a Council’s constitution or similar governance frameworks.
- Strong understanding of local government legislation as it applies to governance and the ability to interpret and explain this to officers and elected members.
- Experience or willingness to contribute to and support the development of the Scrutiny Function, including advising on processes, structure, and practical implementation.
- Experience working directly with elected members and senior officers, including providing high-level advice and support.
- Demonstratable understanding of the law, rules, and procedures relating to committee meetings, and the ability to ensure they are upheld.
- Proven track record in servicing committees, including the preparation of agendas, minutes, and the provision of procedural advice during meetings.
- Ability to work within a sensitive political environment, using diplomacy and tact.
The position offers an hourly rate of £33 per hour umbrella. The role also includes a hybrid working arrangement, with 1 office day per week, offering a great work-life balance.
