Are you an experienced finance specialist with a strong background in Children's Social Care? Somerset Council is seeking a CCAB or CIMA-qualified professional to provide expert financial insight, challenge, and support during a period of transformation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive financial change and sustainability, supporting the permanent finance team with knowledge transfer and best practices.

  • Provide strategic financial analysis to develop robust business cases for service transformation, cost reduction, and income generation.

  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders and service teams to design and implement cost-saving interventions.

  • Offer constructive financial challenge to the Executive Director, Budget Holders, and elected members.

  • Support the Head of Finance Business Partnering in establishing best-in-class financial procedures and evaluations.

What We're Looking For:

CCAB or CIMA qualification with a proven track record in financial leadership.Experience in Children's Social Care Finance or similar public sector settings.Strong commercial acumen with the ability to develop business cases and transformation strategies.Ability to engage with senior leaders, budget holders, and elected members.A proactive approach to problem-solving, cost reduction, and financial sustainability.

This is a hybrid role, with on-site presence required as needed.
