The Role

Saab are looking to employ a Support Manager with logistical and line management experience to set up and manage a new site being established in the Salisbury Plain area.

With the support of the Saab DFWES team, the role will be responsible for overseeing the establishment of the site, recruiting staff and brining it to FOC in Jul 26. Initially based at our head office in Westbury the role will switch to the new location once established and continue as the manager of what will be our central hub.

What you will be a part of

Saab's Training and Simulation unit provides simulated training solutions to customers around the world. Our UK operation provides simulation support to enable realistic exercises in both open and urban terrain, from individual and combined arms at platoon level, to joint operations at brigade combat team level. As a total training provider, it is our objective to improve training performance and increase equipment availability.

The DFWES contract which Saab has held with the British Army in one form or another since 1994 is an integral part of collective and individual training. Supporting up to 200 exercises a year, equipment is at the heart of our business and it's management vital to success.

Job Purpose

To establish and manage a new ILT-DFWES site at a still to be confirmed location. Recruit and train new staff, establish ways of working and bring site to FOC by Jul 26. Thereafter provide Contractor Logistic Support to the ILT-DFWES contract.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Maintain, prepare and issue equipment to support operations.
  • Receipt, repair and re-furbish equipment to meet availability KPIs.
  • Freight equipment worldwide.
  • Liaise with Technical Services Lead and Factory Support in Huskvarna.
  • Line Manage site staff.
  • Support engineering recces and field acceptance tests.
  • Manage configuration control of all hardware and software.
  • Provide technical support for deployable exercises.
  • Maintain a level of spares to support operational equipment and meet contractual obligations.

Desired skills and experience

  • Experience of logistics management.
  • Experience of line management.
  • Facilities management experience desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and formal communication.
  • Driving Licence (B+E).
  • Ability to attain SC essential.
