Locum Civil & Criminal Litigation Lawyer – Home Counties – 3 months + - up to £55 per hour Umbrella – Predominantly Remote WorkingVenn Group’s specialist legal team are pleased to be recruiting for a Locum Civil & Criminal Litigation Lawyer to join a lovely and supportive team in a Local Authority in the Home Counties.This assignment will be for an initial period of 3 months pending further extension to cover permanent recruitment.

The ideal candidate would work full time hours (5 days per week); however our client is happy to consider 4 days per week. This is a predominantly remote working position with court attendance required on occasion. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working within a Local Authority and will have a broad working understanding of Criminal Prosecutions, Regulatory and Civil Litigation work to deal with a varied caseload.Duties may include:

  • Provide legal advice,on a wide range of Criminal matters including Fly Tipping offences and Education offences – Irregular School Attendance / Unauthorised Absences
  • Handle Breach of Tree Preservation Orders and Health and Safety Offences
  • Deal with Health and Safety at work Act 1974, Non-Compliance with Enforcement Notices
  • Conduct Case Preparation and case management of allocated cases for Court purposes and liaise with the relevant Clients from various departments within the Local Authority
  • Handling matters in relation to Civil Litigation (including Judicial Reviews) and Housing Litigation
  • Handle Full advocacy cases, Prosecuting matters on behalf of the Council
