Locum Civil Litigation Lawyer

Up to Β£55 per hour umbrella (dependent on experience)

Local Authority based in South-East England

3 month rolling contract

Full time, 36 hours per week

Once per week office attendance

Venn Group is working with a fantastic local authority in South-East England in their search for a Litigation Lawyer on an Locum basis for an initial 3-month role (with the potential to be extended)

Requirements:

  • Qualified Legal Professional: A qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with strong civil litigation expertise.
  • Advocacy Skills: Proficient in client care and advocacy, able to draft and negotiate effectively on behalf of clients.
  • Public Sector Experience: Skilled in delivering public law advice, with an understanding of local government law principles.
  • Mentorship Experience: Capable of training and supporting junior staff while handling a challenging caseload independently.
  • Commitment to Standards: Committed to meeting high-quality management standards and continuous professional growth.

Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Case Management & Representation: Handle a broad caseload and represent clients in matters including housing and licensing disputes, homelessness cases, and complex civil litigation.
  • Strategic Advice & Client Support: Provide clear, solution-focused advice to officers, senior members, and other clients on sensitive, high-profile issues.
  • Mentorship & Development: Guide and support junior colleagues, sharing expertise and best practices within the team.
  • Policy Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to quality and compliance standards, reflecting commitment to best practices.
