Locum Adult Social Care Lawyer – 3 Months + - Predominately remote Working – Up to £60 Per Hour Umbrella – Midlands

Position: Locum Adult Social Care Lawyer

Organisation: Midlands based Local Authority

Duration: 3-month initial contract with the likelihood of extension thereafter

Working Pattern: Ideally full time however candidates with part time availability possessing relevant experience will also be considered

Working Arrangement: Predominately remote working; Court attendance is preferred, remote & in person, however remote working can be offered dependant on experience

Hourly Rate: Up to £60 + per hour Umbrella (DOE)

The ideal candidate will be a Solicitor/Lawyer, Legal Executive, Barrister or Legal Officer. You must have prior experience working within the Public Sector or Private Practice carrying a full and varied caseload of Adult Social Care matters.

Duties may include:

•             Provide Adult Social Care Law advice, and additional legal advice on areas including children social care (not care proceedings) education and health as required

•             Attend and advise at meetings attended by professionals such as Safeguarding Adults from Abuse Meetings (SAFFA’s), case planning meetings and other similar meetings as directed by the Principal Lawyer

•             Conduct advocacy before the Court and instruct counsel where appropriate, in matters before the High Court, Magistrates Court and First Tier Tribunal as well as preparation of these cases

•             Ensure that the decisions made by the client departments are within the legal boundaries; accord with Council policy; and achieve their aims and objectives efficiently

•             Maintain an awareness of all relevant legislation, policy and regulations, investigate and advise on implications of changing legislation, case law and codes of practice and policy and provide training where necessary

•             Participate in any other areas of work in the Legal Services Department when required to do so by the Principal Solicitor (Adults, Children and Health) within whose Team they are located
