This is a key role where you will help uphold good governance across the council and provide strategic legal support to various departments. Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Monitoring Officer in maintaining high standards of governance, ethics, and transparency within the council.
  • Managing and resolving complaints and working closely with Councillors to address legal queries.
  • Line management of a team
  • Providing expert legal advice on a variety of matters, sound knowledge of Local Government law across directorates is vital
  • Office attendance required once per week

 Candidate Profile:

  • Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with strong leadership and governance experience.
  • Strong people management skills, with a proven ability to oversee a legal team and work collaboratively with councillors and other stakeholders.
  • Able to work a minimum of 3 days per week and up to 4 days per week
