Hours Per Week: 37 hours

Somerset Council are currently searching for an experienced Housing Officer to join their team on a contract basis. This role may include unsociable hours, and will require presence on site- with some flexibility to work from home.

Main Duties:

  • Assist with tenant inquiries, resolve complaints, and ensure satisfaction by addressing issues related to housing policies and procedures.
  • Regularly inspect housing properties for maintenance needs, health and safety compliance, and coordinate repairs as necessary.
  • Oversee lease agreements, renewals, and terminations, ensuring adherence to legal and organisational standards.
  • Facilitate the allocation of housing to eligible applicants, ensuring fair and efficient processes in line with policies and priorities.

The Candidate:

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, resolve conflicts, and handle challenging situations with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Familiarity with tenancy laws, housing policies, and health and safety standards relevant to the role.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, attend outreach and in-reach sessions, and assist with spotlight counts as needed.
