We’re looking for a dedicated Business & Functional Skills Tutor to deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment in Business and Functional Skills (English, Maths, and ICT). This role will involve both virtual = delivery, focusing on ensuring learners achieve their qualifications and develop the skills essential for their future careers.Key Responsibilities of the Functional Skills Tutor• Teaching & Learning: Plan and deliver engaging lessons in Business and Functional Skills, providing one-on-one support tailored to individual learner needs.• Assessment: Conduct initial and ongoing assessments, offer constructive feedback, and track learner progress to promote growth.• Curriculum Development: Create and maintain current, relevant curriculum materials, embedding literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.• Quality Assurance: Uphold teaching and assessment practices that meet awarding body and regulatory standards.• Learner Support: Offer pastoral support, encourage learner potential, and address any barriers to learning.• Administration: Accurately maintain records and complete required documentation promptly.Qualifications and Experience required for the Functional Skills TutorEssential:• Relevant teaching qualification (Award in Education and Training, PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent)• Assessor qualification is highly desirable (A1, TAQA, CAVA)• Experience in teaching and assessing Business and Functional Skills• Strong understanding of Business curriculum and Functional Skills standards• Proficiency in ICT and excellent communication skillsDesirable:• Experience with diverse learner groups, including those with additional learning needs• Knowledge of current educational policies and practicesPersonal Attributes• Passionate about teaching, with strong organisational skills• Empathetic, supportive, and committed to continuous professional developmentBenefits• Flexible remote working with occasional in-person team sessions• Opportunities for professional development in a supportive, close-knit team environmentPlease note: An Enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.For more information please contact Simon Atkins at Pertemps Newcastle on
