Morson Talent are working on behalf of a major player within the Energy Sector who have a current requirement for an experienced Electrical and I&C Handover Engineer to join their client’s established site-based team in Somerset. This is a (renewable) contract position, based Bridgwater with hybrid working options.  Inside IR35.  

Overview
The Electrical and I&C Handover Engineer’s role will evolve during the lifecycle of the electrical and I&C system handover and takeover in MEH and combine electrical/I&C knowledge with project delivery skills. At the early stages you will contribute to building the system handover and takeover process among relative stakeholders. Following this, you will instruct MEH JV to prepare the EESR documents and review them in Teamcenter and organise system walkdown checking on site and category the punch list, and complete the Functional takeover for Commissioning, Turnover for Isolation and Takeover for Maintenance processes.


The key task of the MEH Electrical and I&C Handover Engineer is to make sure the physical system installed by JV is in line with the Engineering documents and/or specification, the Erection Work Package, System Work Package, and the pre-condition of Handover, and other requirements etc, by organising the technical review on EESR documents and walkdown checking on site, and then takeover the system to Commissioning and Pre-ops. You will need to:

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Reports to the Electrical and I&C Handover Lead in the Project team.
  • Update and review the system handover and takeover procedures/guidance notes/work instructions.
  • Instruct Joint Ventures to draft Electrical and I&C EESR.
  • Track the Electrical and I&C system handover schedule.
  • Review Electrical and I&C EESR documents.
  • Carry out the walkdown checking on site with all the stakeholders, such as: MEH JV, MEH program, Commissioning, Pre-ops etc.
  • Attend the meeting of punch list categorisation after walkdown checking.
  • Support the close out of comments on EESR documents and the snags in the punch list.
  • Write lesson learned of the handover and/or takeover process.
  • Discover and deal with the problems/defaults associated with installation as early as possible.
  • Prepare the documentation and certificates for FTC, TFI and TFM.

Essential

  • Strong technical background in Electrical, I&C, or Electronic engineering.
  • Typically Degree qualified in a relevant science or engineering subject.
  • Experience of working in the nuclear industry, or an alternative regulated industry (e.g., oil & gas, electricity).
  • Experience of installation, commissioning, maintenance, or operation support.
  • An awareness of relevant legal and regulatory framework and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to provide technical expertise and knowledge to troubleshooting / fault finding activities.
  • An ability to build effective networks, negotiate and influence effectively towards the achievement of business objectives.
  • An ability to work within a multi-disciplined engineering team to proactively manage and resolve design/installation/commissioning/maintenance issues as they arise.

Desirable

  • Experience in the design, installation, commissioning, maintenance of nuclear power plants.
  • Demonstrable history of working within safety and quality cultures.
  • Experience of Engineering technical teams within a programme-driven project environment.
  • Understanding of UK licensing and other statutory processes, the role of the licensee and the principles of an Intelligent Customer organisation.
