Grafton Banks Finance is recruiting a Management Accounting Manager for a large, respected business with offices in Victoria. The role is hybrid with one per week onsite working. The candidates need to be a fully qualified accountant with experience of monthly management accounts production, reporting, analysis and forecasting from a large company background. There is a large proportion of business partnering involved too and some requirement to liaise with the technical accounting team on certain accounting treatments related to contracts.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • A Senior finance professional who works alongside the business unit to maximise margins and control Operating Expenditure by supporting, challenging and advising on strategic and operational decision-making which impact the financials, which results in higher, sustainable EBITDA and cash.
  • You’ll lead a team which provides expert analysis and reporting, in support of and in challenge to commercial decision making, in additional to highlighting potential risks. You’ll empower and develop your team by understanding their strengths and providing them with opportunities to learn, improve their skills and drive high performance. You’ll create an open culture that embraces change and encourage challenge. You’ll identify and proactively resolve “single point of failure” risks within the team.
  • You’ll be responsible for providing Gross Margin (ÂŁ100m+) reporting (both actuals and forecast) that adds insight and drives decision making, in line with the principles of information simplification. You’ll also be solely responsible and accountable for the accuracy of the monthly forecast for Gross Margin, Opex and the integrity of the associated Balance Sheet transactions.
  • You’ll create and lead a Continuous Improvement culture to improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness. Using your expertise, you’ll proactively identify opportunities to utilise Robotics and AI to achieve this.
  • You’ll manage lead and produce the annual 4 year medium term plan for the divisional Gross Margin and Opex and provide support and robust challenge to ensure the plans are stretching but achievable and maximise future value for the business.
  • You’ll provide excellent Business Partnering and decision support services to the BU Director and the BU Senior Leadership Team. You’ll advise stakeholders on the financial impacts of their activities and provide guidance on how best to achieve their financial and strategic targets.
  • You’ll support the Technical Accounting team to agree the accounting treatment (e.g. IFRS 15 and IFRS 9) for new contracts / agreements.
  • You’ll work autonomously, making decisions independently, only escalating the most complex matters to your line manager and will influence and challenge at a senior level, with regular interaction with the Finance Director.
  • You’ll be responsible for building strong relationships and networks with the Senior Business Leaders that you support. This will require the ability to balance the competing demands, which is a key challenge of the role.
  • You’ll be responsible for setting and driving the strategy for the BU Finance team.
