Jenson Fisher is delighted to be retained by Gillies of Broughty Ferry Ltd to lead the recruitment of their new Financial Controller.Gillies of Broughty Ferry Limited is a long-established family business operating House Furnishings Stores throughout the North and East of Scotland. Due to continued profitable business despite challenging market conditions, Gillies have instructed Jenson Fisher to support with the recruitment of a Financial Controller to lead their Finance Team based at their Head Office in Broughty Ferry, Dundee.As the Financial Controller, you will report to the Finance Director and play a pivotal role in managing the financial health of the company. You will oversee all financial planning, reporting, and analysis activities, ensuring that all financial practices align with the business goals and regulatory requirements.The work is varied and you will be required to be involved both at the operational level as well as thinking strategically and innovatively. This is a great opportunity for a proactive, detail-oriented professional to make a significant impact in a fast-paced retail environment with the potential to progress into the Financial Director role in the future and your responsibilities will include:• Managing all day to day accounting operations and controls.• Preparation of monthly management accounts.• Preparation of financial forecasts.• Preparation of the annual accounts for review by external accountants.• Oversight of the monthly payroll.• Co-ordinating the management of cash flow and debt collection.• Managing the successful submission of the Corporation tax return.• Preparation and submission of the quarterly VAT return.• Managing compliance for the company pension scheme.• Managing business insurance matters.• Documenting business processes to maintain internal controls.• Supporting the senior leadership team with financial strategy and decision-making processes.• Supervising and managing the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.• Managing the relationship with the company’s external accountants.To be successful in this role it is essential that you fulfil the following criteria:• Fully qualified accountant (CA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent.• At least 3 years’ experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar leadership capacity.• Strong knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations.• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and present it in a user friendly and understandable manner.• Proficiency in financial software and tools, with experience in Dynamics Nav ERP software being a plus.• Strong Excel Skills.• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a track record of successfully managing and developing teams.• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and organisational skills.To be considered for this unique, exciting and commercial opportunity with scope for progression within this long-established company then please submit your CV by clicking the link.
