Sr Firmware Engineer work as part of a small team in Dundee and with other facilities and suppliers in the design, evaluation, test, and support of devices used in self-service products such as ATMs (Auto-Teller Machines for the Banking Industry). A key requirement is to have several years firmware/software design experience with a keen interest in the design of electro/mechanical systems operating under software or firmware command & control.

Salary Range: £50-65K + attractive bonus plan (depending on skills and experience)

Main responsibilities shall include, but will not be restricted to:

  • Design, develop and document firmware and software drivers controlling embedded real time devices.
  • Design, develop and document test procedures and software to validate functionality.
  • Software unit test and supporting integration and systems testing.
  • Regular progress reporting on schedule, quality & size of change
  • Small team leadership
  • Project planning & status reporting to management

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Degree in a Software\Computer\Electronics Engineering (Hons 2:1 or better preferred). Electronics degree requires significant programming experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience developing embedded real time firmware (C++ preferred)
  • 32-bit microprocessor experience. (ARM preferred)
  • 8/16-bit microcontroller experience.
  • VxWorks or FreeRTOS or uC/COS-II(-III) RTOS
  • Developing PC\Device application-level software (Linux, Android or Windows) C++, C#, VB, Java or C
  • USB knowledge
  • Python
  • Software design and methodologies Object Orientated
  • Software configuration management
