Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experiencedHealth & Safety Advisorto join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining health and safety policies, conducting site inspections, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company standards. You will play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture within the company and supporting project teams in mitigating risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits, identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions.
- Provide advice and guidance to management, site teams, and subcontractors on health and safety matters.
- Develop and deliver health and safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, providing detailed reports and recommendations.
- Assist in the preparation and review of risk assessments, method statements, and safety documentation.
- Liaise with external bodies such as the HSE, clients, and regulatory authorities when required.
- Maintain up-to-date health and safety records, reports, and documentation.
- Promote a strong safety culture and encourage a proactive approach to risk management.
Essential Skills & Experience
- NEBOSH General Certificate or Construction Certificate (or equivalent qualification).
- Experience in a health and safety role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety regulations, including CDM 2015.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence all levels of staff.
- Strong report-writing and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and proactively manage multiple tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to various sites as required.
Desirable:
- Membership of IOSH (TechIOSH or above) or working towards it.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Experience delivering training and toolbox talks.
