Dunbar Education is a respected provider of educational staffing solutions, dedicated to supporting schools in delivering high-quality education. We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Dunstable and provide tailored support to students with special educational needs (SEN).

Role Overview:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs. You will work closely with teachers and other staff members to ensure that each student receives the individual support they need to thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback and support to both students and teachers.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to address the specific needs of students.
  • Support the emotional and social development of students, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment.

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in SEN support (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
  • Proven experience working with students with SEN in a primary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Empathy, patience, and a passion for supporting students with additional needs.
  • Experience with specific SEN needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, or Dyslexia.
  • Additional training or certifications related to SEN support.
