An excellent opportunity has arisen for a part time Financial Controller to work for this exciting charity on the outskirts of Durham. Your duties will be as follows:

  • Overseeing day to day accounting for the charity
  • Preparing monthly management accounts, annual budgets, and financial forecasts
  • Submission of financial reports and statutory filings in compliance with charity regulations
  • Providing financial analysis to support decision-making for the senior management team
  • Working closely with department heads to develop financial strategies, control costs,and optimising revenue streams
  • Monitoring and managing cash flow and ensuring availability of funds for operational needs
  • Responsible for overseeing billing and collections processes
  • Liaising with external auditors and ensuring smooth execution of annual audits
  • Ensuring compliance with financial regulations, including charity-specific requirements
  • Leading the preparation of annual budgets, ensuring alignment with the charity goals
  • Providing variance analysis and budget forecasts to the leadership team
  • Delivering monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, trustees,and stakeholders
  • Supporting funding applications and reports to external funders as needed
  • Overseeing bookkeeping, payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Responsible for one member of staff

You will be a qualified Accountant or will be qualified by experience and you will have worked in a senior finance role previously. Experience of working with charities or non-profit organisations would be preferential, along with a good knowledge of VAT for complex organisations.
