The Supporting Family Time Team is seeking a dedicated and flexible individual to join our county-wide service, which provides safe and meaningful supervised time for children and their families. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with relevant experience in childcare and a passion for supporting children and families.

Role Overview:

As a Family Time Support Worker, you will play a key role in supervising contact and family support services. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe conveyance of children to and from contact venues, providing detailed observations and reports, and supporting the team to deliver high-quality services in line with our objectives.

This role requires someone who is flexible, reliable, and committed to working evenings and weekends as needed, particularly for after-school family times. You must be able to travel across County Durham, and you will need to have a driving licence, business insurance, and a Level 3 qualification in childcare or equivalent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and Transport: Ensure the safe conveyance of children and young people to and from contact venues, and supervise the contact in a safe, supportive manner.
  • Observation and Reporting: Use observation and assessment skills to provide detailed and accurate records and reports in partnership with families and relevant professionals.
  • Feedback and Quality Assurance: Gather feedback from families regarding the quality of the service and provide constructive reports.
  • Collaborative Working: Promote participation from users and carers, liaising with other agencies and professionals as needed to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Venue Safety: Assist the manager in ensuring that contact venues are safe and appropriate for supervised family time.
  • Risk Management: Support the Team Leader/Manager in managing risks associated with the service and adhere to Health and Safety legislation.
  • Represent the Service: Attend case conferences and reviews, representing the service when necessary, and ensuring adherence to service policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Training and Development: Participate in training as required to meet the needs of the service and enhance professional development.
  • Flexible Working: Work flexibly within the service hours, including evenings and weekends, to best meet the needs of children and families.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualification: Level 3 in childcare or equivalent.
  • Experience: Relevant experience working with children and families in a professional capacity.
  • Driving Licence & Business Insurance: Must hold a full driving licence and have business insurance for travel across County Durham.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work weekends and after-school family time, with a flexible approach to hours.
  • Skills: Strong observation and assessment skills, with the ability to provide detailed reports.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding: Understanding of safeguarding principles and the ability to represent the service in case conferences and reviews.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working in a supervised contact or family support setting.
  • Knowledge of working within Children’s Social Care or related services.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies.
