About the Role:

Randstad is seeking a skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join the Children Looked After (CLA) Team 5 in Durham.
You will be at the forefront of providing support to looked-after children and young people, guiding them through their care journey and ensuring that they achieve the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of children and young people who are looked after by the local authority, ensuring that their care plans are tailored to their individual needs and circumstances.
  • Work collaboratively with foster carers, families, and professionals from health, education, and other agencies to ensure a holistic approach to supporting children in care.
  • Conduct regular assessments, reviews, and statutory visits to ensure that the care and placements of children and young people meet their developmental and emotional needs.
  • Support children through transitions, including placement changes, returning to family care, or preparing for independence.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and safeguarding procedures.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with a valid Social Work England registration.
  • Experience in working with children and young people, preferably within a CLA or safeguarding setting.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act and fostering/adoption processes.
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with children, families, and professionals.
