We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a team, providing support to children and young people with emotional, behavioural, social, and communication difficulties. The role requires a proactive individual who can work closely with teachers to enhance the learning environment and ensure the welfare of students.
Day to day of the role:- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons.
- Work closely with designated children, following the teacher’s guidance on work and play activities.
- Provide general support for behaviour management and assist the teacher with classroom tasks.
- Accompany students who leave the classroom and monitor students outside of class times.
- Familiarise with all school policies, rules, health & safety, and legal requirements and work in accordance with them.
- Assist with lesson preparation and paperwork upkeep.
- Be available to transport students to off-site activities, using the school van or own car if necessary.
- Support a positive working culture, high-quality teaching and learning, and the development and implementation of change.
- Promote excellent behaviour for learning and caring, respectful relationships.
- Undertake professional development and appraisal, enforce classroom expectations, and ensure the school’s policies are implemented.
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or working towards it.
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
- Current driving licence.
- Experience working with children or young people with emotional, behavioural, or social communication difficulties.
- Previous teaching assistant or teaching experience.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues in a supportive manner.
- Computer literacy.
- Understanding the needs of children and young people with emotional, behavioural, social, and communication difficulties.
- Motivation to work with children and young people.
- Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
- Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours.
- Positive attitude to the use of authority and maintaining discipline.
