Lloyd Recruitment Service is pleased to be working with a large organisation in search of a Commercial Planning Manager to join their team on a full time permanent basis.

Purpose of the Job:

To advise the Head of Estates and the wider Estates Team on all planning-related matters concerning the portfolio of sites across the UK. This role will support the Department's strategy, aligning with the overall long-term business strategy by developing and improving the Estate's portfolio through securing planning consents.

Key Tasks/Accountabilities:

  • Possess a strong working knowledge of the Town and Country Planning system
  • Provide strategic planning advice to stakeholders on development and redevelopment opportunities, changes of use, and alternative use options
  • Prepare pre-application consultation briefs for Local Planning Authorities
  • Attend pre-application consultation meetings
  • Attend site and review meetings
  • Prepare and submit planning appraisals, statements, and applications for site developments, changes of use, and Certificates of Lawfulness
  • Select, instruct, and manage external advisers, including planning, heritage, ecology, highways, and flood risk
  • Prepare objections to proposals for neighbouring properties that negatively impact the sites
  • Attend Planning Committee meetings occasionally
  • Manage daily planning projects, liaising with in-house teams, external disciplines, and LPAs

Essential Skills & Experience Required:

  • An accredited degree in Town Planning or a similar discipline
  • Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI) with a minimum of four years' experience (PQE), ideally in a planning advisory role
  • Proven experience in preparing and successfully securing planning consents for significant development schemes
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain strong, sustainable relationships
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
  • Flexi-working arrangements available, including working from the office, from home, and site visits
  • A valid car driver's license with the ability to travel across UK and stay overnight as required
