About the Role:We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Individual Needs Assistant (INA) to join our dynamic team at a local primary school in Eastbourne. The role is focused on supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping them thrive in both academic and social environments. You will work closely with teachers and other staff to provide tailored support that meets each child's unique needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tailored Support: Provide personalized assistance to students with individual learning needs, ensuring they can participate fully in classroom activities.
  • Implementation of IEPs: Assist in the execution of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), working closely with teachers to address each student's specific requirements.
  • Academic Assistance: Help students with their academic work, including one-on-one tutoring and supporting in-class tasks to ensure understanding and progress.
  • Behaviour and Engagement: Support students in managing their behaviour and staying engaged with lessons, promoting a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and adjust strategies that support the student's needs.
  • Monitoring Progress: Track and report on students' progress, providing feedback and suggestions for further support.

Qualifications:

  • Experience or Qualification: Prior experience or relevant qualifications in supporting students with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • Skills and Attributes: Strong communication skills, empathy, patience, and the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Understanding of SEND: Knowledge of special educational needs and disability (SEND) requirements is advantageous.
