Sports Specialist Cover Supervisor

U-Educate is seeking a motivated and experienced Sports Specialist Cover Supervisor to join a well-established SEN school in Eastleigh, starting as soon as possible. As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students continue to learn effectively and that their lessons run smoothly in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

You will primarily focus on delivering and supporting Physical Education (PE) across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. This includes supervising PE lessons, helping students with practical activities, and ensuring their safety. You will also be required to assist in the supervision of students in other subject areas, giving you the opportunity to develop a well-rounded skill set and gain valuable experience in different areas of education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Delivering Sport and PE Lessons: You will oversee PE sessions and ensure that students engage in activities that develop their physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Support in Other Subjects: While your main focus will be on PE, you may be asked to cover other subjects and ensure that students stay on track with their learning.
• Behaviour Management: You will manage student behaviour effectively, maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment.
• Providing Support to Students: Assist students with their individual learning needs and provide guidance when necessary, ensuring that all students feel supported and included in lessons.
• Supervision of Activities: During practical activities, ensure the safety of all students and that instructions are followed correctly.

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience: You should have previous experience working with students, ideally in a school setting with children aged 11-16 years. Experience in delivering or supporting PE lessons is a significant advantage.
• Passion for Sports: A genuine enthusiasm for physical education and sports is crucial, as it will help inspire and motivate students.
• Behaviour Management Skills: The ability to manage classroom behaviour confidently and effectively is important to ensure a positive learning environment.
• Fun but Firm Presence: A balance of authority and approachability is essential to maintain discipline while also creating an enjoyable atmosphere for students.
• Interest in Education: A desire to work in education and support the development of young people is key to being successful in this role.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Right to Work in the UK: You must have the legal right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS Check: You will need an enhanced child-barred list DBS certificate, registered with the online update service, or you should be willing to undergo a new DBS application.
• Professional References: Provide two references from previous employers or colleagues that attest to your skills and experience in working with children or young people.
