Our range includes world leading pumps for handling solids, self-priming and environmental clean-up. The flexibility, reliability and longevity of our pumps have ensured the Selwood name is synonymous with quality.

We are committed to ensuring our staff have the right skills, knowledge & experience to deliver to our customers, as well as creating career paths.

About The Role

We currently have an opportunity to join our Pump Sales and Manufacturing team as a Production Operative, based on site at our Chandler’s Ford branch.

This is a hands-on manual role, which will include assembling a variety of components such as couplings, engines, electric motors, and pump body units.

You’ll be assembling from manufacturing drawings, ensuring our build standards are adhered to and required timeframes are met. Assemblies could include the use of overhead cranes to connect body units and engines, the preparation of engines and setting to a specified RPM, dressing finished assemblies by cleaning and adding decals, vacuum and water testing and preparing finished goods for pre-delivery inspection.

What we are looking for

  • Previous demonstrable experience of working with tools, either in the workplace or as a hobby/interest.
  • Able to read assembly drawings/instructions, to use these to assemble components to required standards within a set timeframe.
  • Demonstrate good attention to detail, with a methodical approach and be consistent in achieving good quality products each time.
  • Able to work independently - to accurately assemble parts under own initiative.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn, to work alongside members of the team to share knowledge and resolve issues together.
  • Be flexible to business requirements, to be adaptable to working in areas outside of core responsibility as needed.
  • Hold an NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical related subject, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in mechanical engineering would be advantageous, but not essential.

Please note, Selwood provides the necessary PPE and workwear needed for this role.

What we can offer you

  • Competitive salary & the opportunity for overtime with enhanced hourly rates
  • Medicash Scheme – medical expenses scheme (access to 24hour online GP services, discounted gym memberships)
  • Pension scheme with contribution based on total earnings not just salary
  • 24 days holiday + 8 Bank Holidays
  • Increasing annual leave entitlement with long service
  • 3x your annual salary life insurance (DIS)
  • Support for development and training
  • Employee assistance programme (EAP) & access to Mental Health first aiders
  • Employee discount scheme (discounts/vouchers for supermarkets, high street shops, holidays and more)
  • Employee referral scheme
  • Free on-site parking
