The primary responsibility of this role is to gain hands-on experience with the design and testing principles related to high voltage (HV) cables and accessories in the lab. This includes supporting the setup of tests according to international standards and ensuring accurate documentation of test results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn the safe operation of advanced electrical, mechanical, and materials testing equipment.
  • Assist with setting up tests, including configuring process control instruments.
  • Familiarize with and interpret international testing standards.
  • Support the execution of electrical tests as outlined in test procedures and international standards.
  • Help maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization.
  • Monitor tests and ensure accurate recording of results.
  • Manage the control and procurement of materials.
  • Assist in coordinating the annual calibration of test equipment.
  • Support plant maintenance tasks as required.
  • Participate in ongoing training, with a requirement to attend college/university on a day-release basis.
  • Prepare technical approval documents for customer submission.
  • Write clear and concise technical reports.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A technical qualification, preferably in Engineering or Mathematics/Science (e.g., BTec or A-Level).
  • Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong self-motivation with excellent manual and practical skills, and a high level of safety awareness.
  • Well-organized with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible in terms of working hours.
