The Role:

As the Payroll and Pensions Officer, you will take ownership of managing the entire payroll function for both permanent staff and casual workers. This sole role requires someone who thrives in a position of responsibility and autonomy, ensuring the smooth running of payroll and pensions with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing monthly payroll for permanent and casual workers
  • Administrating the LGPS and Teachers Pension Schemes
  • Managing payroll adjustments, tax calculations and statutory payments
  • Keeping up to date with payroll legislation, compliance and college specific policies
  • Providing accurate reports and liasing with key stakeholders, including HR and Finance

Experience:

  • Proven experience in payroll, ideally within an education setting or a similar structured organisation
  • Ability to work independelty ensuring that all deadlines are met
  • Strong knowledge of payroll software, pensions administration and UK payroll legislation
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills with a high degree of attention to detail
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and process improvements
