An esteemed educational institution in Southampton is seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) to join their team. Day-to-day of the role:
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEN policy.
- Liaise with and advise fellow teachers to ensure the implementation of an inclusive curriculum.
- Coordinate the provision for students with special educational needs.
- Support the identification of and strategies for students with SEN.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEN.
- Manage the SEN team of teaching assistants, ensuring resources are utilised effectively.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students’ progress and development.
- Develop and foster relationships with parents, external agencies, and specialists.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a substantial amount of teaching experience.
- National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination or a willingness to work towards it.
- Proven experience in SEN coordination and leadership.
- Strong understanding of the strategies needed to establish high quality learning and the ability to implement these effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
