My client is a well respected secondary school with a rich history, now looking to recruit a Finance Manager to join the schools senior support team. Overseeing a small, but close knit finance team, this role reports into the Director of Finance and Operations and oversees the School’s financial operations, contributing to strategic financial planning, providing insights and recommendations to the senior leadership team and ensuring efficient use of resources. In detail, the role focuses on overseeing the day to day financial obligations of the school, working closely with the finance team to ensure the department continues to function well. An important part of the role will be the management accounting process, highlighting any variances and providing analysis into trends and potential concerns, alongside producing a suite of cyclical financial reports. Helping to set and then monitor a range of departmental and overall school budgets, to include longer term forecasting and horizon scanning will be key. The role also ensures that the school remains compliant when it comes to financial returns and other external reporting procedures. Applications are sought from candidates part way or near completion of formal accountancy studies, with management accounting and budget management experience. Whilst schools or a similar sector experience could be useful, of much more important is the ability to work well within a small close knit team and a desire to learn the challenges of the sector. There is also the opportunity to take stock and review the use of data and refine the reporting as a consequence, with suggested improvements in other areas of the department welcomed.  Strong financial management leads directly onto improving the education offering for the pupils and so they’ll be plenty of opportunity for high job satisfaction in seeing the benefits of the decisions you make.Hybrid working is on offer, with the role being permanent and full time across the full year.Farrer Barnes Ltd does not discriminate on the grounds of age, race, gender, disability, creed or sexual orientation and complies with all relevant UK legislation.
