MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
Â
To help ensure the reliability and efficiency of production lines at our manufacturing sites, supporting the production machines including reactive, troubleshooting and repair tasks, planned preventative maintenance, products, new installations and refurbishments.
Â
Would suit someone who is currently working in the field maintaining and troubleshooting machines within the printing industry, mailing machines, high speed sorters or other equipment such as automatic car washers.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Hands on maintenance, diagnosis and repair of designated electrical and mechanical systems and designated production equipment, capable of anticipating faults or problems to ensure optimal performance and minimal disruption. This will include;
- Electrical and mechanical fault troubleshooting
- Planned and reactive maintenance on machinery and equipment
- Ensure day to day maintenance of all production equipment is maintained
- To provide technical support to site staff as required
- Assist in the assembly, installation, calibration and commissioning of a wide range of advanced production equipment
- To comply at all times with the company’s Quality Assurance & Health & Safety procedures, site specific health and safety policies and relevant health and safety legislation to ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with legislation and best practice
- Actively contribute towards the company’s continuous improvement processes
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and parts used.
- Showcase strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis
- To assist in developing the shop floor staff by providing advice and guidance on all aspects of the site
- Ensure that all work areas are kept clean and tidy to ensure minimum disruption
- To liaise and cooperate with the visits of specialist sub-contractors and other visiting disciplines to ensure the continuing efficient operation of the plant with minimal disruption
- Use of IT systems to provide information and data in line with the QMS and other management reporting systems
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Completed time-served apprenticeship or equivalent training, but not essential.
- City & Guilds/NVQ level 3 or higher in mechanical or electrical field, but not essential.
- Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and COSHH
- 18th edition electrical safety awareness. Competent person.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
Â
Must be able to read and comprehend electrical drawings for fault finding purposes, have experience working with pneumatics. Basic fabrication skills are advantageous. The use of testing equipment. Good IT skills using Microsoft packages Word, Excel, and Outlook.
