Your new companyHays are looking for an experienced joiner to work with a national FM contractor based in Edinburgh. This role is crucial in ensuring multiple commercial buildings' building fabric is maintained to the highest standards, contributing to a safe and comfortable environment for students, staff, and visitors. Your new roleYou will be joining the on-site trade team working within multiple building types across Edinburgh City Centre - please see a brief list of duties below:

  • Inspecting & repairing doors, windows, and frames to ensure proper security and insulation.
  • Creating or adjusting partitions and rooms to meet the changing needs of the educational facility.
  • Ensuring that all carpentry work adheres to safety standards and regulations to provide a secure environment for students and staff.
  • Sanding, painting, varnishing, or otherwise treating wood surfaces to maintain their appearance and durability.
  • Constructing bespoke items like display boards, storage units, or lab benches tailored to the school's requirements.
  • Working alongside electricians, plumbers, and other professionals to complete broader renovation or maintenance projects.
  • Assessing the condition of wooden structures and furnishings and addressing wear and tear.

What you'll need to succeedYou will need to be a qualified joiner who is able to present valid trade qualifications or provide strong working references. As you will receive a company van for the duration of this contact, you need to have a valid UK Driving Licence. You will have strong customer service skills and be able to work around members of the public from all backgrounds. What you'll get in returnYou will be offered a long-term contract throughout Summer 2025 working for a nationally recognised contractor in Edinburgh. Hays will pay you weekly, and you will have the option to accrue annual leave. You will receive regular updates from your Hays consultant throughout the contract.
