The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) is Scotland's National Academy, working to inspire, engage, provide expertise and promote Scotland across the globe. We are seeking an enthusiastic communications professional with exceptional people management skills to champion the RSE as our new Communications Manager.
In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day communications and marketing activities across numerous channels in growing the RSE's audience, encouraging greater participation in its activities and outputs, and increase understanding of its relevance to the whole of Scotland and beyond. Working with the Head of Communications, this role supports the planning, strategic direction, and delivery for RSE's marketing, media, digital, internal, Fellows and wider corporate communications. You will manage and support the communications team to ensure they have the skills and tools that enable them to carry out their role as well as overseeing their development needs.
As such, you will be a strategic thinker with exceptional diplomacy and influencing skills, demonstrate a strong track record of leading people, and a deep understanding of corporate communications. You will lead and shape the communication strategies that support our organisational goals while fostering positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will have an ability to drive productivity and efficiency that allow you to confidently deliver robust and creative communications and marketing plans which provide visibility of the RSE's outputs and greater engagement in our work.
We are looking for an individual with experience of planning and implementing internal and external communication and marketing strategies and plans, working with a wide range of stakeholders. This is an ideal role for a communications professional who possesses a proven track record of effectively leading, managing and developing a team. With a responsibility for overseeing across the full range of communications channels that leads to greater visibility of the RSE's work and promotes increased involvement in RSE activities; you will play a key role in shaping the RSE's narrative, driving engagement, and building strong relationships across all levels of the organisation.
