My market leading global client requires a seasoned Server Engineer to provide support across the wider global server estate. You will be responsible for a large volume of Windows and Linux/Unix servers worldwide, both on premise and in public cloud. The role will specifically hold responsibility for reducing software technical debt across the server estate.

You will Analyse inventory data provided and propose actions for reducing software technical debt and report on progress, working with the server owners. There will be further responsibility for performing software installs, removals and upgrades following ITIL change process. The successful candidate will also perform troubleshooting and incident / problem management related to tech debt reduction and meet service level objectives.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills will be central to the role and candidates must have the ability to discuss technical detail with their peers at various levels of technical expertise. Ability to follow change process is essential, as is pro-activity and thinking outside of the box, where appropriate.

Essential Skills:

  • Extensive experience of Windows Server and Red Hat Linux server environments (Amazon Linux an advantage)
  • Experience of automation tools beneficial (Windows/Tanium, Linux/Ansible)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Ability to work well with and collaborate with others effectively
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to think on your feet
  • Experience of software / application management

Preferred:

  • ITIL foundation
  • AWS experience
  • VMware knowledge
  • Incident and problem management skills
  • Project delivery skills
