This civil contractor specialising in water infrastructure requires an experienced quantity surveyor. Delivering projects up to Au$60m, with a diverse range of works; pipelines, treatment plants, pump stations, sewer projects, this is a pivotal role in the company. With over 50 years of experience, they have gone from strength to strength, turning over $130m/year. Modern offices, innovative engineering and, most importantly, a strong culture is on offer. Crucially, you will report to a brilliant GM who we have known and supported for over 10 years.This new role will allow the Project Managers to focus on delivery. Your new roleBring your ideas to the table, create the position how see fit! This is more than just a standard contracts admin role.This role is pioneering within the organisation. This role will be to bring all QS aspects together across the division within major infrastructure projects. Currently, most QS duties are managed by the PM. They want you to create the role the way you think it should be. They want someone to come in and build the position how they feel the company should operate using your expertise. The role will be all-encompassing:
- Financial Management:Prepare cost estimates, develop budgets, and manage contract variations and Extensions of Time (EOT).
- Project Oversight:Conduct site visits to monitor progress, ensure compliance, and enforce cost control across 4-7 projects.
- Collaboration:Work closely with project teams to ensure accurate cost reporting and alignment with project objectives.
- Procurement & Contractual Claims:Handle procurement, tender analysis, and manage contractual claims effectively.
- Efficiency Improvements:Identify and implement process improvements, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous development.
- Contract Administration:Develop, execute, and administer major project subcontracts to ensure seamless project delivery.
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying
- You will have strong QS experience of 5-10 years experience (duties listed above)
- Strong communication skills, verbally and written.
- Experience as a QS or similar role for civil contractor or exposure to civil / utilities projects
- Civil / water / utilities experience would be required (civil essential)
- Strong experience of procurement, project controls, onsite construction knowledge, estimating, contract administration, programme knowledge.
