We are collaborating with a well-established and highly regarded specialist subcontractor, boasting over 30 years of experience and a strong reputation within Tier 1 contractors. With a consistent and robust pipeline of projects, they are looking to expand their team by hiring a Quantity Surveyor.

The first project you will be involved in is a high-value, large-scale new build public development in East Lothian. Their package is valued at approximately 6 million. This project is part of a broader development and is expected to last for 12 months. Afterward, you will transition to the next project in the pipeline.

As an experienced Quantity Surveyor, your role will include:

  • Collaborating with project teams to effectively manage and monitor costs.
  • Assisting with the drafting and review of tender documentation.
  • Supporting the preparation of progress updates and financial reports.
  • Contributing to cost estimation and budget planning.
  • Measuring and valuing completed work.
  • Helping to negotiate and formalize agreements with subcontractors and suppliers.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing project costs and developing detailed project cost plans.
  • Managing the commercial aspects of ongoing projects.
  • Working alongside the Project Manager to ensure financial and commercial matters are clearly communicated.
  • Engaging with design and operational teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Managing the procurement process for subcontractors.
  • Preparing valuations, creating commercial reports, and identifying any variations.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • A team-oriented approach, with the ability to collaborate closely with the commercial team.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all project team members.
