You will need to have passion for this sector and eager to learn to use manual lathes., milling and drilling machines.

You will also need to have

  • some exposure to this type of work whether that be in work or in education.
  • experience in a manufacturing environment
  • a keen interest in learning a wide range of machining methods
  • great attention to detail
  • experience in reading and understanding technical drawings

Your role will involve:

  • machining parts from drawings
  • using gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements
  • recognising and using fixtures and tooling
  • learning how to and then performing tool wear offsets
  • regularly cleaning and light maintenance on machinery
  • complying with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions
