Field Support Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated Field Support Engineer to provide second-line IT support and expertise to educational institutions and select corporate clients across Merseyside. This role is ideal for a tech-savvy professional who thrives on solving problems, enjoys a dynamic work environment, and has a passion for empowering schools and businesses through tailored IT solutions.

Role Overview:
As a Field Support Engineer, youll be the primary technical point of contact for a range of clients, focusing primarily on schools and other educational organisations. You will manage IT systems, troubleshoot issues, and provide hands-on support during regular on-site visits. This role also includes opportunities to work on IT projects with corporate clients, offering variety and challenges to expand your expertise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver second-line IT support to schools, universities, and corporate clients.
  • Maintain and optimise IT systems, networks, and infrastructure for reliable performance.
  • Conduct on-site visits across Merseyside, providing technical support and IT consultancy.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues efficiently.
  • Support and configure IT solutions, including cloud platforms (Office 365, Google Workspace), server systems (Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP), and educational technologies (e.g., MIS, Paxton Systems).
  • Work with staff and clients to ensure IT solutions meet their needs and expectations.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and proactively recommend improvements.

Skills & Experience Required:
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in IT support, preferably within educational environments.
  • Strong expertise in network management, server administration, and cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with Smoothwall, Aruba switches, and educational IT systems.
  • Proficient in Mac management, MDM tools (e.g., Jamf), and print management systems (e.g., Papercut).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • A client-focused mindset with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for travel.
