Senior 2nd Line Support Technician Ellesmere Port £30k to £35k per annum

Principal IT are working with a well-known MSP based in Liverpool who provide IT services to schools around Liverpool that are looking for a Senior 2nd Line support technician to join their team. In this role you will play a vital part in supporting their future strategy. They are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves troubleshooting, and has a passion for IT that extends beyond the screen.

Based in Ellesmere Port but with a range of site visits across Merseyside, you'll be the go-to IT expert for several highly prestigious education institutions, ensuring smooth-running systems and swift resolution of technical issues. You'll be handling everything from routine support to more complex second-line challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide second-line IT support to schools and educational facilities.
  • Manage IT systems, networks, and infrastructure to ensure they operate at their peak.
  • Conduct on-site visits across Merseyside, offering hands-on support and guidance.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Work with educational staff to ensure they have the tools they need to deliver top-quality education.

Requirements:

  • Experience in education IT support (second-line level or higher) would be desierable.
  • MSP experience would be desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of network administration, Windows environments, and cloud solutions.
  • Full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle-you'll be travelling regularly to sites across Merseyside.
  • Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, including LAN, VLAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and VPN technologies.
  • Experience of filter and firewall management, particularly Smoothwall.
  • Experience with server management (Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP).
  • Familiarity with educational technologies e.g. MIS systems and Paxton Systems.
  • Experience of setting up and configuring Aruba switches.
  • Experience of managing and maintaining Mac computers.
  • Experience of MDM e.g. Jamf and Print Management Software e.g. Papercut.
  • Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., Office 365, Google Workspace, Teams)

The Package:

The successful Senior Second Line Support candidate will be offered a salary of between £30,000 and £35,000, favourable holiday allowance, company contributed pension scheme, private dental & medical insurance.
