Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to be engaged on a contract basis. Candidates will ideally be based in Cheshire.
Your day to day could sometimes involve:
- Conducting site visits to verify progress and quality, ensuring contract compliance
- Monitoring costs and preparing regular financial reports
- Assessing and advising on project risks (health, safety, cost overruns)
- Verifying contractors' payment applications
- Measuring and valuing work as per agreed rates and specifications
- Benchmarking prices using historical data and market knowledge
- Reviewing Bill of Quantities for accuracy
- Validating contractor quantities through cost assurance activities
- Operating with NEC and bespoke contracts
- Daily client liaison to ensure top-notch service
Experience:Skills:Attributes:Qualifications:
- Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management background
- Desired but not essential: experience in Nuclear, Civil Engineering, or Service Contracting sectors
- Broad technical knowledge in Procurement, Supply Chain, Cost, and Commercial Management (both pre and post-contract)
- Familiarity with standard contracts (NEC suite, Public Contract Regulations 2015)
- Strong personal and communication skills
- Ambitious, driven, and energetic
- Ideally HNC, HND, or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction Law, or a related field
- Alternative backgrounds (e.g., Engineering) considered
- Professional qualifications/memberships (RICS, CIOB, CICES, CIPS) desirable and supported if not already attained
