Reed are working with an SEN school in the local area for 11-18 year olds looking for Teaching Assistants on both a short term and long term basis.

The work is tempoary initially with a great opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate would need to have some expeirence working with SEN chidlren and be happy to take on work at a short notice from time to time.

Working hours will be Monday to Friday, from 8.30am until 3.30pm term-time only.

About the Schools:

  • The schools cater for students with additional needs, which include: Sensory and Physical Impairment, Cognition and Learning Needs such as SLD, MLD, SpLD, GDD, Communication and Interaction Issues, including ASC, ADHD and SEMH.
  • Increased staffing and support, with a Class Teacher and at least 2 support staff per class.

Key Responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant:

  • Providing individual and group support to students with complex needs i.e., Autism, Down’s Syndrome, ADHD.
  • Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons, adapting materials and resources as necessary to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress, feeding back to the class teacher and contributing to Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Supporting students in accessing sensory activities and therapies.
  • Liaising with parents and carers as required.

Qualifications and Experience (Desirable, but not Essential):

  • Experience of working with children with additional needs in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of SEND.
  • A positive and caring attitude, with the ability to provide support and care to students.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
